Actor Galifianakis’ Webby Honors Well-deserved

Zach Galifianakis, of the upcoming movie “The Hangover 2,” is leading the Webby Awards with his “60 minutes”-esque Web series, “Between Two Ferns.” It’s featured on, which is headed by SNL writing alum Adam McKay (writer/director of “Anchorman” and “Talladega Nights”).

The Webbys celebrate Internet achievement and are presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, a group of 750 Web experts as well as other Internet professionals.

Galifianakis won best Web personality/host, best comedy short and best online variety show. Actress Lisa Kudrow’s series “Web Therapy” won two awards, Justin Bieber got the People’s Choice award for his “Bieber or Die” skit and Arcade Fire’s music video “The Wilderness Downtown, ” directed by Chris Milk, also snagged top awards.

I’m immune to Bieber Fever, and Lisa Kudrow’s series didn’t do anything for me. But Galifianakis nails the role of awkward host and he has a mix of celebrities participating: Charlize Theron, Jon Hamm, Conan O’Brien. Carrot Top even makes an appearance. (Remember him?)
